GWAVAMAN is simply the portion of GWAVA that the administator or other specified users will manage the settings and configuration for AntiVirus and AntiSpam protection.

Level 1

GWAVAMAN is the center of the GWAVA program and the operational control point for all the individual modules. All programs and interfaces have to get direct authorization from GWAVAMAN before they can perfrom their functions.

GWAVAMAN is also resposible for storing, configuring, and setting up the AntiSpam/AntiVirus environment.

When you setup a scanner in GWAVMAN it will use the domain and server configuration that you setup in the first '3' initial steps. It will also assign object id's to the different part of the process such as GWAVA so that it can identify what rules/configuration to use for that particular message scan or process.

Aside from the initial default setting during the scanner setup you will use GWAVAMAN to setup additional rules, notifications, rules for Qurantine, etc.

Level 2

To access and configure the performance of GWAVA you will open a browser window and enter the IP address or host name of the GWAVA server followed by the port number 49282 (http://ip_address:49282)

The first time you access the GWAVA management console after the initial install you will be asked to configure the basic settings for you environment.

There are 3 steps to get GWAVAMAN configured for use:

  1) On the first screen you will select weather its a new GWAVA server or if you will be joining it to an existing GWAVA Network.
  2) The second step of the initial setup is is where you will set some rudimentary settings to secure the server.
  3) The third and final step of the initial GWAVAMAN setup you simply verify the information your provided in step two.

The initial server setup (steps 1, 2, 3) only needs to be done one time but the server settings that were set can always be changed or altered in GWAVAMAN.

Once GWAVMAN's initial three steps are done you can use GWAVAMAN to install your scanners, configure rules within the scanners, etc. GWAVAMAN is the 'hub' of the GWAVA program in that it is in charge of generating and sending alerts, notifications, and holding the core configuration for your environment.
