This section covers the different versions, where you would want to use those versions, and how to install these versions.

Gwava Appliance

The GWAVA appliance is an .iso image file meant to install Linux and GWAVA onto a single machine in a single install process. This is most often used when setting up an SMTP scanner.

This is the most common install of Gwava. The appliance can be placed in front of any mail server. With the SMTP scanner, Gwava acts similar to a mail relay where it accepts mail for the domain(s), processes the mail through its filters and pass along good mails to the mail server. Messages deemed to be spam are stopped before they can ever reach the internal mail server.

The install instructions for the Appliance can be found here: Gwava Appliance Install Guide

Gwava Software

The Gwava software can be installed on either a Linux or Windows platform.

This version is used when you want to use a GWIA or MTA scanner. Those scanners require Gwava to be installed on the same system as the GroupWise MTA or GWIA agent that they are scanning for. All of the other scanners types can be used with this version as well.

The install instructions for both the Linux and Windows versions of the Gwava software can be found here: Standard Gwava Install Guide

Both the appliance and the standard software can be obtained from the Gwava Trial Downloads page.
