Retain Licensing

Retain requires a base license for the Retain server itself. In addition to that, each module requires its own license (GroupWise, Exchange, Social Media, etc). The Lucene indexer is included with the Retain license; however, if the customer wishes to use the Exalead indexer, that requires a separate license.

Without a license, Retian will function for 30 days for evaluation purposes. After this period expires, the following occurs:

• Users without the “Manage Servers” right are not allowed to log in at all.
• Users with the “Manage servers” right are allowed access, but only to the Licensing Page.
• All jobs continue to be processed normally.

Level 1

1. Obtain a validation key from the GWAVA licensing department for each module. In most cases, this means - at minimum - two validation keys:

• Base Retain Server license.
• Module license (Exchange, GroupWise, Social Media, etc.).

2.Go to https://licenses.gwava.com and create a license file for each validation key.

3.Go to the RetainServer and upload each license file that was downloaded during from the Licensing website.

Hands On

1. Acquire a license file (*.pem) from https://licenses.gwava.com.
:*Select the license type that matches the validation key type.
:*Enter the validation key and complete the other required contact information.
:*Select the option to download the license file.
2. Go to the Retain server (http://[ip address]/Retainserver.
3. Under Configuration on the left-hand pane, select Licensing.
4. At the bottom of the licensing page, click on Choose File and navigate to the *.pem that was downloaded from the licensing site (step 1).  Select the file.
5. Click on Submit License.
6. To get the navigation pane to display on the left-hand side of the RetainServer screen, you can either click on the "Status and Updates" link at the upper-right corner of the RetainServer screen or logout and log back in to the RetainServer interface.
