The Economist states that China is planning for 100 gigawatts to come from wind power. David Mackay who is the chief scientific adviser to the UK’s Dept. of Energy and Climate Change estimates that wind power farms generate on average 2.5 watts per square meter. That means China would need 40,000 square kilometers of wind farms.
