[edit] Logging

Support recommends setting the logging level to “Diagnostic” for troubleshooting purposes. It requires more disk space, but 20G should be more than sufficient to handle the default number of log retention days.

You also specify how long to keep logs. By default, logs are deleted after 10 days. Logs may be compressed to save disk space.

[edit] Log Filename and Location

The system log is named RetainServer.[yyyy]-[mm]-[dd].log for the current day's log.

The logs are found in different locations depending upon the Retain Server's operating system:

Linux
Their location will depend upon the option chosen during installation:
  • /opt/beginfinite/retain/tomcat[n]/logs (where "n" is the Tomcat version).
  • /var/log/retain-tomcat[n]/ (where "n" is the Tomcat version).
Windows
  • [drive]:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat[n]\logs (where "n" is the Tomcat version).
  • The drive letter will be the drive on which Apache Tomcat was initially installed.
