The contents of the Browse tab come from the Retain database. See "Where Data Is Stored in Retain".

Contents

Litigation Hold

This feature allows you to mark items for "litigation hold" so that they cannot be deleted. It only appears for users that have the "Apply or remove litigation hold" permission.

Apply/Remove Tags

This button only appears when at least one tag definition has been created to which the current user has access. This feature allows you to tag selected items with pre-defined tags. This feature only appears for users with the "Add, edit, remove global tag definitions" permission.

Delete

This feature allows you to delete personal messages. Mark the mailbox items you wish to delete and click on the Delete button. Only users granted the "Delete Personal Messages" permission will see this option.

Forward

This feature allows you to forward mailbox items to other people. Mark the mailbox items you wish to forward and click on the Forward button. Only users granted the "Forward Messages" permission will see this option.

PDF Export

This feature allows you to export selected mailbox items to a PDF file. Only users granted the "Export Messages" permission will see this option.

Restore

This feature works in tandem with the Stubbing Server. Mark the items you wish to restore back to the GroupWise mailbox and click on the Restore button. As explained under the "Stubbing Server" topic on this training site, when stubbing is enabled, a stub gets placed in the users' GroupWise mailbox after the item gets archived. This stub is a reference to the item sitting in the Retain mailbox. Using the Restore feature restores the original message back into the GroupWise mailbox, replacing the stub in its place. Only users granted the "Restore Messages" permission will see this option.

Print

This feature allows you to print selected mailbox items. Mark the mailbox items you wish to print and click on the Print button. Only users with the "Print Messages" permission will see this option.

Change Mailbox

This allows you to change to another user's mailbox, but requires permission to do so.

Quick Find

This free-form search box is just as it implies - it allows a free-form search for items. Unlike everything else in the Browse tab, the Quick Find uses the indexes and not the database.

Drop-Down Date Filter

Use this to filter items by date range.

Source of the Data

When in the Browse tab, the data is coming strictly from the Retain database. When you narrow the date, it is a SQL query that is being performed. If anything is missing or incorrect, it is the database you'll want to troubleshoot.

See KB, "Where Data is Stored in Retain" for more information.
