Vertigo was designed to provide a simplified but powerful interface for managing GroupWise systems from a single to multi user level. It combines the everyday abilities of ConsoleOne with individual con- figuration options of a GroupWise mailbox on a mass or single user level into one clear, concise appli- cation. Vertigo displays the GroupWise system to be viewed much like a file browser. On the left hand side is a tree view of the GroupWise system, domain(s), and post office(s) with their respective users, lists, and groups. The right hand side of the screen displays information on the selected object or user and allows configuration of settings.

Vertigo requires a license to function properly. Demo users will need to contact their sales rep. for a demo license. You can help them find who their sales rep is HERE, if they don't know who it is already.

They will also need to know their GroupWise System name when they register the license. Vertigo requires this to be accurate or it will not work. There are a few different ways to find out what your GW system name is.


  • Open ConsoleOne, click on 'Groupwise System'. The bottom left hand corner will show the GW system name.
  • Open ConsoleOne, right click on 'Groupwise System' and choose 'information'. It will open a new window. The top of the new window will show: 'Information: GW system name'
  • Open Vertigo without a license installed (Demo mode), connect to your GW system, then go to help, and then about. It will give this information on the right hand side.

 Adding a license
 1) Open Vertigo
 2) Click on Help | Licensing
 3) Click on Import License
 4) Browse to, select the vertigo.pem or VR-2.0.pem, and click open
 5) Verify that it shows the licensing details now, instead of saying demo



 Connecting to GroupWise
 1) Make sure you have the Novell client installed and are logged into the GW server.
 2) Make sure you have a mapped drive via the Novell Client to the GW domain.
 3) If using GW 2014 you don't need the first two options, but will need the GW REST IP, Username and Password.
 4) Open Vertigo
 5) Click on 'Connect to GW System'
 6) Fill out the IP for the GW POA and Port
 7) Fill out the GW SOAP port and if it is using SSL check the box
 8) For the first time connecting choose 'Live' for the connection method
 9) If using Pre GW 2014, in 'Domain Path' choose the mapped drive from step 2, to the GW domain.
 Make sure 'Use the settings in the Domain Path' is checked.
 10) If using GW 2014 check 'GW 14 and newer and then fill out the GW REST IP address, Port, Admin Username and Password
 11) Click OK
 12) If everything was filled out correctly it should load the user data.



 Enable Logging
 1) Open Vertigo
 2) Click on Settings | Debugging
 3) Put a check mark next to each Option (Enable .NET tracing, Trace Errors, Trace Info, Trace Warnings, Enable SOAP Tracing). 
 This will put the logs in verbose when troubleshooting a problem.



 Sharing a Signature
 1) Open Vertigo
 2) Connect to the GW System
 3) In 'Single User Mode', find a user that already had a signature created
 4) Click on the 'signature' tab
 5) Highlight the signature you want to share (if the user has more then one)
 6) Click on 'copy'
 7) The Novell GW Address Book should pop up, select the user(s) you want to share the signature with and click ok.
 8) Go to the user you shared it with and click on the signatures tab to verify that the signature is now there.



 Proxy Access Single User Mode
 This is used when giving proxy access for one user
 1) Open Vertigo
 2) Connect to GW System
 3) In 'Single User Mode', select a User that you want to allow others proxy access to
 4) Click on the 'Proxy Access' tab
 5) Click on 'Add User'
 6) The Novell GW Address Book should pop up. Select the user(s) you want to allow proxy access for this user and click OK.
 7) Highlight the newly added user(s) and then check the desired boxes underneath to give them the rights you want them to have for this user.
 8) Click 'apply'
